Third Graders Can Now Read Newspapers from Around the World

There is a museum in Washington D.C. called the Newseum.  My husband and son and I toured it last summer.  A great place to visit if you are in D.C.

In the Newseum there is on display the front page of newspapers from all over the world.  Now you can see this all online at the Newseum’s web page.

I can see lots of possibilities for learning in using this site.

  • Students can look up the newspaper of a city in a country or state that they are studying in social studies.
  • Students can compare the news from one city in a country to the news in another city of another country. What is the same?  Different?
  • Students can see how the news changes from day to day in one particular city.
  • Students can find the cities on a map of the world or a map of the United States.
  • Students can share with the class something they learned about the city that they read about.

Check it out and let me know what you think.
